WiiDoom 0.1 Alpha Released

The first alpha release of WiiDoom has been released. Please go to the Google Code site to download (http://wiidoom.googlecode.com). Download, test, enjoy, and have fun!!!!!

One thing to note: Nunchuk detection is a little flaky right now, so once Doom comes up, disconnect and reconnect the Nunchuk.

Cool!

playing it now. I reported some issues on the Google code page. Sorry about the IR thing, I don't know if you are going to work on that or not. I've programmed a coupla games on the PC to use the Wiimote to use IR similar to MP3 and the Quake Wii port. It's pretty difficult.
The game is awesome without it, though.

I happen to have all the official Doom wads and I'm playing the game with the original right now.

THANKS FOR EVERYTHING!!

also I don't think you image that you made for the Homebrew channel works. I think it's not wide enough. i made one though, you can use it with the release if you like:

OH, another thing, (I hate the stupid things) but I think that some people MIGHT be happier if there were some way to put in the original codes.

Congrats! I'll try it out this weekend. Can't wait to see the code on Google - I hope to contribute.

I highly recommend taking a look at a great mod collection at:

Many old faves are in the collection. Only download the first cd image though. The second require Ultimate Doom.

Right now, you have to power off the Wii to quit the game. This weekend I'll try to post a small update to fix this bug.

The sound makes me laugh. Everyone sounds like chipmunks.

Anyway, thanks for this lovely port! I'm sure it'll reach full potential in the future. I'm looking for forward to such updates!

As it stands now, this is incompatible with the Freedoom that comes in the archive. Freedoom requires that you be able to aim up or down in order to complete the game. There's a certain switch you have to shoot which is inside a cage in order to get a red key (4th or 5th level, I think). With this, you can't, and therefore cannot complete Freedoom.

Disregard that last post. I don't think PrBoom ever had that feature to begin with...

Okay, I figured this out by testing with the windows PrBoom port. You're supposed to shoot the pillar with the switch. It works fine with the latest stable PrBoom but does NOT work in WiiDoom. I have submitted a bug report.

Tried it out tonight and it is great! I ran into the quit bug of course. I also noticed that the gamma setting may need to be adjusted. This was also an issue on the Quake port. I can't wait for the Wii Remote to control the targetting. That will be nice. I will also test some of the mods and see how they look as well.

Wow, very impressive for an alpha release. I didn't expect it to be fully playable that fast, sure there is still a lot of things to do, but hey, Doom's playable! Thanks a lot!
